The artistic innovations of the Isley Brothers, continued by the second generation of the family in Isley, Jasper, Isley, belie the conservatism of their releases since the late 70s.
For a third time the Isley Brothers had managed to reinvent themselves, and even more success was to follow in 2003 when Body Kiss reached the top slot on the US album charts.
The Isley Brothers represented the apogee of gospel-inspired soul on their early hits, they pioneered the ownership of record labels by fl artists, and invented a new funk genre with their blend of dance rhythms and rock instrumentation in the early 70s.

The Isley Brothers biography >> liveDaily
The first generation of Isley siblings was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, where they were encouraged to begin a singing career by their father, himself a professional vocalist, and their mother, a church pianist who provided musical accompaniment at their early performances.
In 1957, the brothers went to New York City to record a string of failed doo wop singles; while performing a spirited reading of the song "Lonely Teardrops" in Washington, D.C., two years later, they interjected the line "You know you make me want to shout," which inspired frenzied audience feedback.
Although the individual members continued with solo work and side projects, the Isley Brothers forged on in one form or another throughout the decade; in 1996, now consisting of Ronald, Marvin, and Ernie, they released the album Mission to Please.

The distribution was first managed by Buddah Records, but in 1973, T-Neck switch its distribution to Epic and the label kept on releasing records until the mid 1980s.

Regina Belle Biography and Update at SoulTracks
She mostly passes the test on the album, as her covers of the title track, the swingy "What Are You Afraid Of" and the classic Sinatra ballad "Fly Me to the Moon" are effective, if not definitive.
She is clearly more comfortable and engaging on the Soul cuts on the disc, especially a medley of Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes' "The Love I Lost" and the Isley Brothers' "For the Love of You," with gorgeous backing vocals by Detroit group Perri.
Overall, while Lazy Afternoon doesn't answer all the questions about Belle's versatility as a song stylist, it is a welcome addition to her discography and should be enjoyed by both her longtime fans and by Smooth Jazz audiences.

 Jungle Boogie
"Jungle Boogie" was one of those cool tunes from Kool and The Gang (they've been called the original funk soul brothers), who cranked out a ton of hit singles that managed pop crossover while still dominating the RandB charts.
The group never had the stylistic and emotional range of Earth, Wind and Fire, or the explosive funkiness of P-Funk.
They fit somewhere into the second rank of 70's/80's RandB groups: the Isley Brothers were more consistent, Ashford and Simpson were more sophisticated, and the Ohio Players were earthier, but Kool and the Gang is comparable, and by far the most commercially successful of the lot.
