Ismael Quintana (born June 3, 1937 in Ponce, Puerto Rico), is a singer and composer of salsa music.
Quintana's family moved to the Bronx sector of New York when he was only two weeks old; here he went to school and whilst he was still in high school he formed a band with his neighborhood friends.
With Palmieri, Quintana was awarded the 1966 Trophy for the "Most Popular Latin Singer of the Year", awarded at the famed Palladium Ballroom in New York.

Percussionist Jos Claussell and Ismael Quintana's sons worked it out for Ismael to surprise Eddie with an impromptu appearance.

The low point is Quintana exploring his inner lounge lizard on Andre Previn's "You're Gonna Hear From Me." Produced by Pancho Cristal.
Unfinished, maybe; a masterpiece, definitely: from the wildly swinging "Kinkamache" and "Cobarde" to the improvised solo piece "Random Thoughts" to straight jazz on "Resemblance." I've read that this release was put together against Palmieri's will, and that he wasn't happy with it, but it's the best introduction to his work I've heard.
One of his many Grammy-winning albums, it's a routine Palmieri effort: the title track and "Venezuela" are pounding, dramatic salsa, and the bridge on "1983" is uncanny.
