Process for alkylation of isoparaffin with olefin - Patent 6492571
This invention relates to a process for alkylation of an isoparaffin with an olefin over a solid-acid catalyst, wherein at least two parallel reactors are used at the same time.
C.; a reaction pressure in the range of from the supercritical pressure of isoparaffin to 10.0 MPa; the mole ratio of isoparaffin to olefin in the alkylation feedstock is in the range of 2.0.about.100; and a WHSV of alkylation feedstock in the range of 0.1.about.20 hr.sup.-1.
C.; a reaction pressure in the range of from the supercritical pressure of isoparaffin to 9.0 MPa; a mole ratio of isoparaffin to olefin in the alkylation feedstock is in the range of 10.about.90; and a WHSV of alkylation feedstock in the range of 0.5.about.8.0 hr.sup.-1.

For compounds of the same carbon number, the order of increasing boiling point by class is isoparaffin, n-paraffin, naphthene, and aromatic.
The boiling point difference between isoparaffin and aromatic hydrocarbons of the same carbon number [40–50ºC (72–90ºF)] is larger than the boiling point difference between compounds of the same class that differ by one carbon number [about 20ºC (35ºF)].
Isoparaffins and naphthenes are intermediate, with these properties falling between those of normal paraffins and aromatics.

U.S. Patent: 5017279 - Multistep process for the manufacture of novel polyolefin lubricants from sulfur containing ...
It appears that isoparaffins in the C.sub.25 to C.sub.60 carbon range per molecule are good lubricant candidates, if they have 1 to 3 alkyl side chains of medium chain length on the n-alkane carbon skeleton as close to the center of the molecule as possible.
In the third step, the sulfur containing polyolefins are hydrogenated to isoparaffins with the simultaneous removal of sulfur as hydrogen sulfide in the presence of transition metal sulfide catalysts.
The crude isoparaffin product is purged in vacuo with heating under nitrogen to remove all the volatile by-products, mostly paraffins, having less than 25 carbon atoms per molecule.

Idaho National Laboratory - Fossil Fuels Refining and Processing Research - Supercritical Fluid Isoparaffin Alkylation ...
The Supercritical Fluid Isoparaffin Alkylation Research Project is developing a Supercritical Fluid (SCF) solid catalyst process to replace the concentrated liquid acids currently used by the petroleum refining industry for isoparaffin alkylation.
The result of the multiyear project will be an integrated isoparaffin alkylation process capable of replacing the environmentally risky liquid acid catalyzed processes currently in use.
This project is sponsored by the National Petroleum Technology Office of the DOE Fossil Energy Program.

Analysis of Surface Interaction between TiO2 Fine Particles with Different Surface Modification in Isoparaffin by Using ...
This paper focused on the surface modification on titanium oxide for the control of dispersion stability in isoparaffin for the application of electric rewritable paper by using microcapsule included nanoparticles.
The surface of titanium oxide was modified by the multistage treatment of silane coupling agent and random graft polymerization and adsorption of polymer dispersant.
The relationship between direct measured surface interaction and dispersion stability and electric mobility of titanium oxide particle in isoparaffin solvent was discussed.
