This could help explain why despite efforts by the tuna fishing industry over the past 20 years to protect dolphins, their numbers have failed to recover, according to the study on the swimming behavior of dolphins by Hydrodynamics expert Daniel Weihs at the Technion Israel Institute of Technology.
Weihs's dolphin model predicts the maximum thrust when the calf is about two-thirds of the way down the mother's length; aerial photographs of swimming Eastern Spinner dolphins confirm they tend to adopt this position.

In this regard, it is especially significant that in 2000, Israeli submarines reportedly conducted test launches of cruise missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads in the waters of the Indian Ocean, off the Sri Lanka coast.
However, as the Israeli economy suffers from a serious recession for the third consecutive year and as losses from its tourism sector reach $9 billion, Israel now has a stronger incentive to bolster its economic ties with India.
