RPGnet: A Brief History of Game #4: Issaries: 1998-2006
Issaries Inc. is one of three new companies that emerged from Chaosium in the late 1990s (the others being Green Knights and Wizard's Attic).
Issaries Inc. was created as a new company to hold the Gloranthan trademarks and copyrights, separate from the more volatile highs and lows of its parent company.
Issaries was officially incorporated on November 20, 1997, but the plan for Issaries to raise money turned out to be not quite as easy as hoped due to 50 different legal regulations in 50 different states.

 Glorantha: Cult of Issaries
Issaries is the son of Larnste and Harana Ilor, god and goddess of the Celestial Court who ruled over Change and Harmony, respectively.
Issaries learned from this failure the secrets of motion and stillness, and when his tongue failed him he learned the secrets and terrors of silence.
The cult of Issaries worships him as the god of language and speech, of communication in general, and of passage and transit, travel, trade, and roads: the Guardian of the Way.

In Dragon Pass the most famous Issaries Goldentongue is probably Sartar himself, the founder of the Sartar dynasty; though Orlanth Rex, which he was also a member of, usually claims credit for Sartar's peaceful creation of the Kingdom of Sartar.
Officially, Etyries is an erring daughter of Issaries who has unwisely chosen to follow the evil Red Moon Goddess, and it is hoped that she will repent and return to the true path of Orlanth.
The strength of the Lock is equal to the POW of the Issaries casting the spell; it may be overcome by a Lightfingers or Strength roll greater than the Pow of the Lock spell.

Why Lankhor Mhy learns Lore and Issaries tells tales, or, Why the story is best   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
Finally Issaries spoke up, saying he would tell Aranea a story, and leave her to decide on whether it was a suitable gift.
Now Issaries knows many stories, some are true, gathered on his travels, some are creations, both his own and of others, and some may yet come to pass, but they always worth listening to.
And this is why story is better than knowledge, for tales lift the heart and stir the soul, but knowledge is dry as dust, and told badly may drain all life into dullness.

Unlike the tired old barbarian merchant-god, Issaries, she doesn't see you only as "customers," from whom she can make a quick buck by selling you any old tat, regardless of whether you want it or not.
Rather, she seeks to enlighten you, bringing you the illumination of the Lunar Way, enabling you to play your part in transforming Glorantha into a better world for all.
Etyries possesses many great secrets which Issaries has never fathomed, and she reveals truths which he, in his ignorance, has rejected.

The source material for this campaign draws from the Issaries publications Thunder Rebels, Storm Tribe, King of Sartar, Dragon Pass and the Sartar Rising campaign, particularly Barbarian Adventures.
