Isthmian League Second Division - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Division Two was first formed in 1973 as the first major expansion of the Isthmian League, and consisted of 16 clubs, mostly from the Athenian League.
In 1977, the two existing divisions were renamed Premier Division and Division One, and another 17 clubs were admitted (again mostly from the Athenian) to a new Division Two.
However, as Phase Two of their current National League System Restructuring, the FA decided that two regional leagues were needed at 'step four'; this means that the Division Two was scrapped and the clubs merged either into the regional Division One North/Division One South, or into other step five leagues before the 2006-07 season.

Welcome to the Banstead Athletic FC home page.
League and Cup success eluded the club in seasons 1993/94, when they finished in 9th place, and 1994/95 when Banstead faded out of the promotion battle to finish in 8th spot, however, good runs in the Carlsberg Trophy, F.A. Vase and Surrey Senior Cup kept interest alive, whilst further ground improvements secured a B grading.
The league campaign was a struggle to keep out of the relegation zone, however a splendid end of season run of seven victories in eight games saw the club finish in a very respectable 10th position, whilst silverware was gained in the East Surrey Charity Cup when Chessington United were beaten 2-0 in the final.
The last two seasons have seen the team fail to progress beyond the 1st or 2nd round in any of the Cup competitions and continue flirting with relegation but traditional Banstead end of season strong performances have seen them manage to avoid the trap door.
