The Ryman Football League is predominantly for clubs based in the Greater London area and this overlaps with the Dr. Marten's League (Southern League).
The league was founded in 1905 by amateur clubs in the South on England where there was no formal competition for these clubs to play in, apart from cup competitions.
The league changed names several times in the 70's, 80's and 90's due to sponsorship and more lately it's been sponsored by Rymans and, therefore, is know known as the Ryman Football League.
