Waupun Middle School was selected to participate in the State-Sister Program with Chiba, Japan in 1992 under provisions of the Wisconsin Department of Instruction State Superintendents' Exchange Program.
Our sister school is Kuniyoshi Junior High School in Isumi and the primary goal is for students to gain an understanding of the similarities and a respect for the differences of their Japanese contemporaries.
When students from Isumi come to Waupun, they are guests in the homes of our students.

The best spots in that area are torami beach and isumi, they seem to have a bit more power and pick the swell up a bit more.
Isumi beach has a really good set up the japs have put these breakwalls up just off the beach and all the sand gets stuck behind them which forms some epic banks when the swell is up.
I,ve had this place at 5 feet any bigger and it wouldn,t handle it but the peaks that the walls form are as good as any beach break in oz.

In Chor-Farmer, almost of members are living over a wide area, around Tokyo metropolis, ex., Chiba, Kanagawa, Ibaraki and Tochigi prefectures, which are about 50-150 km far from center of Tokyo.
We have a general practice in Tokyo at Thursday in a week till now, but it is not easy for any members to assemble to Tokyo, because many working members are busy.
To explore the new practice system, we try to change the usual practice as follows; (1) decrease the general practice in Tokyo, (2) introduce the small practice in local area, (3) introduce one general practice in Isumi (Chiba) at Sunday in a month.

June is the traditional rice-planting month in the Isumi area of Chiba Prefecture and for the past three years, the local fifth-graders have tried their hands at planting rice the old-fashioned way.
According to Yukio Tezuka, biology teacher at Ichinomiya Commercial High School and director of the Isumi Nature Preservation Association, such ancient rice originally played an important role in Shinto religious rites.
