It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie is an NBC television movie produced by Jim Henson Television in 2002, starring Jim Henson's Muppets.
As is customary in Muppet movies, a wide assortment of cameos were also made in the film (including, for the first time, cameos by other puppets—Yoda and Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog).
This movie makes at least two references to the first Muppet feature film, The Muppet Movie: Kermit passes by a statue erected in his honor, the caption of which reads "For the lovers, the dreamers, and you"; Kermit finds out that without him, Doc Hopper's Fried Frog Legs would have become a very successful enterprise.

It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie could've been more aptly titled It's a Muppetful Life, since this feature-length made-for-TV movie is essentially a lampoon-cum-remake of the perennial Jimmy Stewart classic.
It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie is another fun bit of fluff from the Henson people, who seem determined that Kermit should become as synonymous with the holidays as Charlie Brown has.
As with all Muppet films, there are a smattering of fun cameos by human (and in one case, non-human) stars, though so many are from NBC (for whom the film was made) that it begins to look like a promo for "must-see TV".

It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie marks the fourth time that The Muppets have tackled Christmas, following "John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together" (1979), "A Muppet Family Christmas" (1987), and the theatrical release The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992), and it appears that they've run out of gas.
It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie is a Muppet vehicle, so it does have its share of cute moments, that's inevitable, but the story is appallingly unoriginal and the Muppet characters aren't their usual charming selves.
I've been a fan of The Muppets for as long as I can remember, but their recent efforts have shown a sharp downturn in quality, and It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie is no exception.

Gandalf was so diminished and disempowered in the last two movies, they might as well have left him dead in Moria and let him retain the dignity he had at that point, to become a rallying cry for the armies of the west.
It’s the fault of the screenwriters, whose job it was to tell the story well enough so that the audience properly understood the story.
