  Jezebel, Queen of Armageddon
Ithobaal had not been born heir to the throne either, but he had been born to a role that was almost more important in Phoenicia, that of serving the gods.
Ithobaal, the youngest son of Ahiram, was the accidental son of Ahiram’s old age, but by far the most splendid-looking of Ahiram’s sons, being as he was also the son of the famous Phoenician beauty, Elisha.
Ithobaal’s saving grace was that he was not only fit to rule, but he became a strong military and political leader, and during his reign, Tyre sent expeditions to places as far off as Libya and to Tarshish, and the city grew richer beyond even its citizen’s broad imaginations.

Ugarit-Ras Shamra and Conventional vs Revised Chronology
But the tomb of Ahiram was the most important one because of the ornate sarcophagus of Ahiram where Ithobaal, his son, had buried his father.
To be sure the tomb was entered in antiquity, but this was done apparently by troops of Nebuchadnezzar after the `Battle of Carchemish' when he entered Phoenicia in the persuit of Ramses.
Ithobaal buried his father in 606 BC at which time Ramses/Necho send his funerary gifts indicating good relations between him and the Phoenician king.

Comprehensive information and links about Lebanon Batroun
According to historians, Batroun was founded by the Phoenicians on the coast some miles North of Gebal Byblos on the southern side of the bold promontory called in classic times Theoprosopon.
It is said to have been founded by Ithobaal I (Ethbaal), king of Tyre, whose daughter married Ahab (Josephus, [[Antiquities of the Jews Ant]], VIII, xiii, 2).
Another archaeological site and a crusade ruin at Batroun is the castle of Mousaylaha which is constructed on an isolated massive rock with steep sides protruding in the middle of a plain surrounded by mountains.

 The Ancient Phoenicians
Later more extensive excavations produced a series of semi-intact royal tombs that yielded a glimpse of Phoenician treasure, including vessels of gold, silver, and obsidian, sandals and breastplates of gold, and an array of royal paraphernalia.
The most important find, however, was an inscription in the Phoenician alphabet on an elaborate sarcophagus: "This coffin was made by Ithobaal, the son of Ahiram, King of Byplos, as the eternal resting place for his father.
If any ruler or governor or general attacks Byblos and touches this coffin, his sceptre will be broken...." This discovery in l922 touched off a wave of excavation in Byblos and a renewed interest in the origin of the Phoenicians.- Pat Remler.
