Yasuhide Ito was born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, on December 7th 1960.
Ito's musical talent has been widely recognized since he won prizes at the Shizuoka Music Competition (piano, first prize, 1980), Japan Music Competition (composition, third prize, 1982), The Competition for Saxophone Music (1987) and the Band-masters Academic Society of Japan (the Academy Prize, 1994).
Ito is also active as a board member of JBA and BASJ (The Bandmasters Academic Society of Japan), and a lecturer at Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music, Senzoku Music College, Sakuyo Music College and Tokyo Conservatoire Shobi.

In 2002 and 2003 ENC sent several packages of dolphin meat from the Miyagi prefecture to the local governmental Inspecting Center of Public Health in Ibaraki Prefecture, and Dr. Tetsuya Endo at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Health Science University of Hokkaido examined the meat.
The dolphin meat had been sold in Ito City and in a town named Kawazu, located in the southern part of Izu peninsula, Shizuoka prefecture.
The inspection by both the Inspection Center and Dr. Endo proved that all of the meat was contaminated by mercury.

The inspection by both the Inspection Center and Dr. Endo proved that all of the meat was contaminated by mercury, and especially one pack of dolphin meat showed as much as 5.69 ppm of mercury, which is 14.2 times higher than the maximum advisory level.
The Inspecting Center of Public Health in Ibaraki Prefecture once advised that meat with mercury contamination exceeding the maximum advisory level of 0.4 ppm should be discarded, because eating poisoned dolphin meat is a serious health hazard, causing damage to the brain and nervous system, especially for young children and pregnant women.
Although the three biggest newspapers in Japan, the Asahi, the Yomiuri, and the Mainichi, reported the contamination news in their local editions, the local newspapers the Izu and the Shizuoka refused to carry it, apparently for fear that readers would cancel their subscription if the contamination was reported locally.
