At the entrace to the Piskarevskoye Cemetary there is an eternal flame which burns for the people who died during the Second World War, when the city was blockaded by the Nazis and hundreds of thousands of Russian people starved to death.
This monument is found on the University grounds (Lomonosov taught at the Academy of Sciences).
There is also an interesting statue at the other end of the park row, although I'm not sure who/what it is, this one less traditional in design.
