"IVAN VAZOV (1850-1921), Bulgarian poet and writer, was born at Sopot in Bulgaria in 1850, and received his first education in the Sopot village school.
Among Vazov's other works are The New Graves of Slivnitza (Serbo-Bulgarian War of 1885-6); The Kazalarska Czaritza; Borislav and Towards the Abyss, two of his best plays.
Vazov, who identified himself with the sufferings and joys of the people, is honoured throughout the country as the national poet and as a true patriot.

Vazov was born in 1850 in the town of Sopot, situated in the beautiful Valley of the Roses, one of the most poetic sites the country has.
Vazov also inherited a series of special virtues from his father, Mincho Vazov, who was a trader and a true Bulgarian, bearing the spirit of the Bulgarian people that had inhabited these lands for so many centuries.
After finishing school in Sopot, Vazov was sent to Kalofer, another town bearing the spirit of the Bulgarian revival, and was appointed assistant teacher.

It was built in the period from 1905 till1906 for the Duchy of Bulgaria by Ferdinand Fellner & Hermann Helmer.

The Ivan Vazov National Theatre (Bulgarian: Народен театър „Иван Вазов“, Naroden teatar „Ivan Vazov“) is Bulgaria's national theatre, as well as the oldest and most authoritative theatre in the country and one of the important landmarks of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
Founded in 1904 by the artists from the Salza i Smyah company, it was initially called simply the National Theatre, but before being named after the prominent writer Ivan Vazov it also bore the name of Krastyu Sarafov between 1952 and 1962.
The Ivan Vazov National Theatre has a well-equipped main stage with 750 seats, a smaller 120-seat stage and an additional 70-seat one on the fourth floor.

I have visited Sopot nine times since 2002 and this year decided to buy a villa and move to BG in Bozalan district(on the mountain), I just love Sopot.The pics of the cafe with the blue canopy - it's called "Black & White" or in BG "Cherno i Bialo".
