The stadium consists of a large grandstand on one side of the field, with a small section curving around the end zone, and a separate grandstand on the opposite side of the field.
The stadium was heavily rebuilt in 1970-71 and renamed for Ivor Wynne, the former chairman of the city Parks Board, in 1971.
Ivor Wynne was the second facility in Canada to use Astroturf-Empire Stadium in Vancouver being the first in 1970- or indeed any other artificial surface - a trend that has been followed by almost every major sports facility in Canada.

Close to 700 McMaster employees and their families turned out to cheer on the McMaster Marauders as they battled and triumphed over the Ottawa Gee-Gees at Ivor Wynne Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 10.
Ivor Wynne Stadium, home of the Hamilton Tiger Cats will be the Marauders' temporary home for the next two seasons until the completion of the Ronald V. Joyce Stadium on campus.

Well,first Pink Floyd was not the last show there, the very last concert that wasn't part of a football game at Ivor Wynne Stadium was Rush on August 24, 1979.(Streetheart opened).
As to why they banned concets there,to my understanding it was an accumulation of a few things,noise mainly as the stadium is surrounded by homes,parking issues,garbage and vandalism (eg:lawns,cars,property etc).
I think I read somewhere that was the concert that started off with a couple bombers flying over the stadium which broke some of the press box and neighbourhood windows.Which also may have had a hand in the concert banning.

Moving to Vancouver, she became a Lion's season ticket holder - until smoking was banned with the Team's move to B.C. Place Stadium.
We are going to encourage the millions who read the Forces Canada website to boycott the Bombers, and any outdoor CFL stadium that doesn't allow smoking.
