		Iwate Prefecture is located in the Tohoku (North-East) Region of Japan.
		The population is generally clustered in settlements in the central communications spine (the Kitakami River basin) that runs through the prefecture connecting Ichinoseki, Mizusawa, Kitakami, Hanamaki and Morioka (the capital).
		The coastal region, to the east, where the Kitakami mountain range drops to meet the pacific is an excellent example of a Rias type coast with high cliffs.

	Kenji Miyazawa
		A native of Iwate Prefecture, Kenji died at 37 years of age.
		Kenji Miyazawa was born in 1896 in Hanamaki Town, the Hienuki District (currently known as Toyosawa Town, Hanamaki City) in Iwate Prefecture.
