Experienced as a military campaigner Izzet's political moderation endeared him to new Sultan Mehmed VI on the latter's ascension to the throne on 3 July 1918.
Despite the ultimate crashing failure of Izzet's field career in the wake of disaster in the Caucasus in summer 1916, the new Sultan promptly dismissed the Young Turk administration led by Enver and Talaat and installed Izzet as his new Grand Vizier.
It was Izzet who negotiated the Ottoman armistice with the British at Mudros (having first released the interned British General Townshend for the purpose) on 30 October 1918.

 A HISTORY OF THE CALLIGRAPY
The development of Ta'Iiq reached its highest peak of achievement in the work of Mehmed Esad Yesari, who received his icazet from Dedezade Mehmet Effendi in 1167 H. Mehmed Esad Yesari was paralyzed down one side of his body and could write only with his left hand.
Mehmed Esad Yesari's son Mustafa Izzet Effendi followed in his father's footsteps as a master of Ta'Iiq script.
A number of inscriptions by both father and son are to be found carved in stone above the entrance doors of a number of mosques, tombs, medreses, imarets, fountains and schools in Istanbul.

Mehmed Giridi was born in Crete and came to Istanbul to study the art of calligraphy He learned calligraphy and received his icazet from Hafiz Osman Effendi, and later engaged in discussions with the calligrapher small bin All of Agakapi on the subject of calligraphy.
Mehmed Izzet Effendi was born in Istanbul in 1257 H. We do not know from whom he received his icazet, but he is known to have written a very beautiful Thuluth and Naskhi and to have written the Rik’a script in a very pleasing style peculiar to himself.
Mehmed was the grandson of Mustafa Dede, the son of Sheikh Hamdullah.

The first two of the 13 cells to the left of the gate used as "Postnisin" and "Mesnevi-han" cells are kept in their origanal form and presented to the public.

Mehmed Emin was appointed grand vizier, but he was a man of the pen and did not understand military strategy.
Mehmed Fuad died in 1869, and after the death of Mehmet 'Ali in 1871 Sultan Abdul Aziz felt he was free from the reformers and could pursue his absolutist tendencies.

According to the inscriptions in the two medallions on the panels of the door, it was presented to the Mevlana mausoleum as an endowment by Hasan Pasha, son of Sokullu Mehmed Pasha, the renowned grand vizier, in 1559.
This was made by the master craftsman Ilyas in 1597, and donated by Mahmud Pasha, governor of Maraþ.
A Turkish poem of 32 couplets by the poet Mani (died: 1599) is inscribed on a silver plaque attached to the grill.

After Hasan Halife was killed in an uprising in 1631-32,  the land together with a house on the shore reverted back to the treasury during the reign of Mehmet IV (reigned 1648-1687).
One of these plots was purchased by Grand Vizier Izzet Mehmed Pasha who had a pavillion built for the exclusive use of the Sultan on the hill overlooking his own mansion by the shore. 
The shore palace and the pavillion were assigned to Mahmut II’s daughter, Mihrimah, and her husband Mehmed Said Pasha in 1836.

 Zakariya Calligraphy : Resources & Papers : The Hilye of the Prophet Muhammad
In 1897, the Ottoman calligrapher Bakkal Arif Efendi, a refugee from Bulgaria, was commissioned by the Ottoman Printing House to write a large hilye in Turkish.
Its text was composed by the Ottoman statesman, poet, and author Jevdet Mehmet Pasha.
Displaying a hilye in the home, workplace, or mosque was believed to provide a blessed environment, but a hand-made levha, or panel of calligraphy, was expensive.

After Mehmed Talaat (Turkey’s foremost political leader since February 1917) called his CUP cabinet together and engineered their collective resignation—including his own—in an attempt to curry favor with the Allies, Sultan Mehmed VI appointed a new cabinet under Field Marshal Ahemt Izzet Pasha, who was determined to be more acceptable to the Allies.

The Sabah daily, in its November 7, 1918 issue states that documents related to Armenian Genocide, sought after by the government, could not be found, and it furthers claims that Talat Pasha and his entourage, before they left the government, quite possibly destroyed the orders related to Armenian genocide in entirety.
Likewise, several memoirs of the era tell that, before he escaped to overseas, Talat Pasha went to a friend’s seaside estate by Arnavutkoy with a full suitcase of documents and he burned all these documents in a fireplace at the basement of the estate (Enver Pasha by Shevket Sureyya Aydemir.
The chief of Cabinet, Izzet Pasha, protested the situation and demanded the return of the documents.
