J.T. Edson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
J T Edson delighted in using real-life and fictional characters as crossover "guest stars" in his works and often used the relatives/descendents of his characters to create spin-off series.
J T Edson did have at least one complete, unpublished novel at the time of his death, Amazons of Zillikian, which was #5 in the Bunduki series, but which remained unpublished due to his disillusion with the intransigence of the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate, as mentioned by Laurence Dunn in his online article [1].
Edson's villains are often "soft shells" or "liber-radicals" - radical left wing or liberal people who are prepared to go to any extent, including torture, rape and murder, or fomenting indian wars, to torment the heroes of the story (right wing to a man and woman, and often southern).

 ERBmania! - Dunn/Bunduki
Throughout the trilogy of books, Edson was true to his word about detail and if he couldn’t find a way to fit it into the story line, he would add a series of footnotes.
Edson was also true to his promise to ERB Inc. that he would not infringe on Burroughs work.
Whether it was the frequent mentions of his adoptive parents that swung the tide against Edson, but no amount of plea bargaining or sharing of profits would sway them from their stand and Edson turned his back on them, disillusioned.
