Named after the 19th century founder of Carlsberg, J.C. Jacobsen (1811-87), the new Jacobsen Home Brewery, a microbrewery of class, will brew "real ale" type beers for the growing public for such beverages, with 40-year Jens Eiken as master brewer.
"Jacobsen is going to be a guarantee for good, handbrewed ale, actively promoting the cultural history of Carlsberg through taste and experience," says Eiken, a former Carlsberg International Innovation chief.
Jacobsen's beers - ales for connoisseurs who demand taste, variation and quality in their tipple - are initially to be sold on the domestic market in Denmark, but there are plans to sell the new product range in Norway, Sweden and Finland at a later juncture.
