U of T's colleges are good places to mature, says Jana Luker, dean of students at University College.
Colleges have a tradition of creating their own academic programs, lecture series, scholarships, bursaries and library collections, all of which add value to the active, small- town environment peopled by a community of students and staff.
Some of the colleges have been part of the university landscape for many years (like St. Michael's, which opened in 1852, and Victoria, which moved from Cobourg in 1892) while others are relatively recent additions to the map (New College in 1962, Scarborough in 1965).
