Jat Airways is the national carrier of Serbia, former national carrier of Yugoslavia, and the sixteenth-oldest airline in all of Europe.
Jat Airways is not a member of any alliances or partnerships but does codeshare on some routes with Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Air France and Aeroflot.
Jat Airways has recently launched a campaign to join SkyTeam airline alliance, with Air France as a major sponsor of their campaign.

JAT Airways Flight 364 was a flight scheduled to arrive in Belgrade via Zagreb from Copenhagen but on January 26, 1972, a bomb exploded when the plane was over Hermsdorf (East Germany).
The DC-9 plane went down spinning and crashed near Srbská Kamenice in Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic).
The attack occurred amid a purge of Croatian leaders and intellectuals by Yugoslav authorities.

(CBS) The head of Yugoslav airlines was shot dead in central Belgrade late Tuesday by unidentified assailants, Belgrade's Studio B television reported.
Petrovic, 61, is the General Manager of Yugoslav Airlines, known as Jugoslovenski aerotransport or JAT in Yugolslavia.
Petrovic is also a friend of the family of Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic and a member of the neo-communist party of Milosevic's wife, Mira Markovic.
