JBuilder was conceived within Borland around 1996, by the people fascinated with the new language, Java.
JBuilder 2 was extremely slow, though, and not very stable.
JBuilder is now able to work with multiple application servers, and is a very good tool for developing web services and JSPs.

 JBuilder Update
Depending on the operating system you're using the JBuilder launcher is either a native application or a shell script, but in either case it uses a set of ".config" files to determine what VM options, class path, and main class to use.
JBuilder Foundation and Professional both lack the ability to attach to an existing process, so the standard JBuilder launcher cannot be used to debug OpenTools.
The project now knows what class to use in order to start JBuilder, and has some of the critical VM parameters set, but many of the classes needed by JBuilder are not yet on the class path.

FAQ-O-Matic: A Tip on Running Multiple Versions of Jbuilder on the same box.
One example of what will happen is that the list of classes and packages that appears in the "Classes with Tracing disabled" list will be filtered by the lower SKU and saved, so when you run the higher SKU, you will only see those classes that are available in the lower SKU.
JBuilder creates a default JDK definition in the JBuilder Home directory that points to the JDK distributed with JBuilder.
When two SKUs of the same version of JBuilder are installed, the second SKU installed will not create this JDK definition because a JDK definition has already been created by the first version, pointing to the JDK in the install directory for the first JBuilder version.

Migrating to Eclipse: A developer's guide to evaluating Eclipse vs. JBuilder
Like JBuilder, the Resource perspective in Eclipse has a tree-oriented view; the Navigator, at the top left (which is not apparent here, obviously, because we haven't created anything) that lets you navigate and manage resources.
If you had a long file with an error at the end, there would be a small red box at the bottom of the right margin regardless of which part of the file was showing in the editor; clicking on this would take you to the error.
You'll notice that the views in the Debug perspective have equivalents in JBuilder, but because the entire Eclipse workbench is dedicated to debugging in this perspective, you don't have to switch between different tabs to see variables, the call stack, and the output console.
