JICA sent two experts in the education field in the middle of May. These experts have provided advice to the Ministry of Education and ascertained the need for assistance in the field of education.
JICA sent a study team to Kabul in April and provides assistance for nation-wide broadcasting of the "Emergency Loya Jirga (National Assembly)" that was held in June.
JICA will plan specific assistance measures that will be effective in reducing poverty and restoring the society in Afghanistan, mainly in the fields of education, health/medical care, water supply, the media and public transportation.

JICA, a governmental body providing technical assistance to developing countries, has given priority to Jordan in the fields of basic human needs (water, food, health and education), environmental protection and the promotion of industry.
In a grant aid project, JICA financed the construction of the Sheikh Hussein Bridge at the northern Jordan-Israel border and is currently finalising the King Hussein Bridge which connects Jordan and the Palestinian self-rule West Bank territory.
Other JICA projects are the upgrading of the Zai Water Treatment Plant from 32mcm to 90mcm until 2002, a project estimated to amount up to $77 million.

 JICA Donates Over 2
A record of discussion between JICA and ERA was signed in September last year to built the capacity of the Training Center in order to help ATTC provide proper training in mechanized construction methods, according to the Embassy of Japan in Addis Ababa.
In addition to the donation, JICA’s four experts are currently organizing new training courses in accordance with the cooperation agreement.
It was planned in the agreement that JICA’s experts would train approximately 1, 700 operators, mechanics and supervisors during the cooperation period.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) commenced here on Monday a training course in statistics and economics for a number of Iraqis.
With the participation of 20 Iraqis from different ministries and government organizations, the two-week program is a joint effort between JICA and the Jordanian Department of Statistics (DOS).
Regarding the course's goal, DOS' Director-General Dr. Hussein Shakhatreh said, at the course's opening, that Iraqi organizations are in definite need of understanding matters related to statistics and economy to better serve their country in general.

 Cooperation Between MDTC and JICA
In 1996-1999 a senior volunteer was dispatched in the field of heat treatment of carbon and alloy steels for a period of 3 years during which capabilities of MDTC in heat treatment was developed.
To introduce a new technology to local foundries in manufacturing ductile cast iron, a JICA senior volunteer started, in 2001, working hand by hand with RSS engineers to manufacture different spare parts made of ductile iron.
JICA furnished the cost of major parts necessary raw materials to conduct this project.
