		Before I'm accused of heresy, let's recall that in the mid-'60s, Ben Jor virtually singlehandedly fused various African and Brazilian rhythms to create samba rock, which pointed the way to the hard funk of his American successors in the '70s.
		Over his long career, Ben Jor has incorporated into his music an amazing range of influences, including bossa nova, samba, Tropicalia, MPB and post-bossa; his rhythmic innovations gave rise to the reigning Brazilian styles of axe and pagode in the '90s.
		And as always, the groove was anchored by Ben Jor's percussive strumming (he plays the guitar as one would a bass).
