JSWAT REVISION HISTORY ====================================================================== $Id:$ 1.5.10 - April 16, 2002 - Fixed bug #426: remove support for the 'assert' keyword as it requires JDK 1.4 and this version of JSwat does not support that version of the JDK.
The environment value is rarely useful since it is whatever was used to launch JSwat, and this often is not the same classpath used to run the debuggee.
Changed JSwat to be more like NetBeans in that it creates a ClassPrepareRequest and leaves it enabled forever, setting the breakpoint each time the class is prepared.

The license which covers JSwat 3.x, the Sun Public License, is being deprecated by the Open Source Initiative (the group that approves licenses as being "open source").
Prior to two weeks ago, the JSwat source code was not organized as a NetBeans project, so examining the source in the NetBeans IDE involved creating a project by hand.
Hi Nathan, Since the JSwat 3.0 release is going to make use of the netbeans platform, and since you already mentioned that JSwat will be able to make use of the many plugins/modules that netbeans has, I wonder if it can take advantage of the external editor module that netbeans has (http://externaleditor.netbeans.org/).

Norm Matloff's Introduction to the JSwat Java Debugging Tool
JSwat has a nice small size, both in terms of disk/memory usage and in terms of its footprint on your screen.
And JSwat has a macros capability, which allows you to automate keystroke sequences of actions specific to a given debugging project.
As of JSwat version 1.4.5, the "view" command for viewing the source code has not been implemented, so you will need to use a text editor in another window for this purpose.

I am using Jswat ver 3.11 and I also attach the session via socket as the project is multi-threaded.
I added what I have in CLASSPATH to the Classpath option in JSwat, and I also added the directory where I have to sourcefiles and.class files to the program I want to debug.
I also tried launching Tomcat from JSwat, thinking that this would force it to hold onto the classpath I defined, but never could get the config details right.
