	Blue Jam - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		It utilised unusual editing techniques to achieve an unnerving ambience in keeping with the radio show, and largely repeated the radio sketches.
		A subsequent "re-mixed" airing, called Jaaaaam was even more extreme in its use of post-production gadgetry, often heavily distorting the footage.
		In place of closing credits the show had a link to jamcredits.com.

		His 1997 Channel 4 series "Brass Eye" contained, to my mind, the greatest comic moment of all time in the form of the "Cake" episode, in which Morris drew finger-wagging testimonials from dim do-gooders such as Bernard Manning and Noel Edmonds regarding the eponymous intoxicant, which, as Morris kept insisting, was "a made-up drug".
		Short of a DVD release of the entire "Jam" and "Jaaaaam" series, or even archiving of the remainder of the Radio One tapes, the job has been well done.
		Although less of a sickeningly surreal multimedia experience than Morris' "Blue Jam" album and "Jam" and "Jaaaaam" television series, Cook's angular, insightful ramblings demand repeated plays to be fully appreciated.

		Jaaaaam is a perfect example of something much cooler on paper than actually in practice.
		Channel 4 refused to run it as such, and aired the 6th episode of Jaaaaam in its place, and the edited Episode 5 of Jam the following week.
		The lost, fifth Jaaaaam is available on the DVD, along with the full version of the corresponding Jam episode.

		This is my favorite version of it – some of the sketches need the visual aspect to work better, and the variety of visual effects keeps things interesting and dream-like.
		Recommended sketches from Jam include the woman who requests a plumber fix her dead baby by running hot water pipes through it, or "TV Lizards" (also available on the Blue Jam best-of CD), where a TV repairman brutally mocks a couple who've called because their television is pouring out lizards into their living room.
		A disagreement over this lead to the fifth episode of Jaaaaam not airing, because Morris insisted the cut material be reinstated.

		Chris Morris's jet-fl vision, irreverence and savage eye ensured that he appealed especially to the dance and trance generation; just as there were remixed, hardcore, dance-floor versions of tunes so Jaaaaam was a remix version of Jam.
		Technical trickery (faster jump cuts, distorted imagery and sound) emphasised the darker areas of the material, with sketches literally recut, emerging often like dub versions of the original.
		Five of the Jaaaaam programmes went out but C4's run of six included a straight repeat, broadcast in error.

		Disc 2 is actually not quite needless as the sleepified versions on it were broadcast as Jaaaaam and it's nice for completists.
		I only flciked through the first episode on the second disk and I thought it was the same.
		Jaaaaam is a much woozier re-edited version of the same shows.

		These were transmitted in the early hours of Sunday morning, starting in the week of transmission of the third episode of "jam", and were shown between 09/04/2000 and 14/04/2000.
		Although six editions of "jaaaaam" were prepared, only five were shown, with episode six appearing where episode five should have been.
		It is believed that this was connected to material that had been excised from the original "jam" five, which Morris insisted should be reinstated for "jaaaaam".

		It may technically have two DVDs in its box, but since usually a two-disc set suggests a release brimming over with amazing extras you can’t fail to be disappointed when you play disc two and discover that it’s sole content is the late night remix jaaaaam, itself a pointless endeavour.
		Some extras of this nature differ between watching the episodes individually and watching them all together, which means that it certain fascinating footage, such as an extract of untreated rushes from the Gush sketch, can only be viewed by watching the series twice, which even the Morris completist would find a bit of a struggle.
		And as we all know, the real problem with owning a copy of jam (or indeed jaaaaam) is that once you’ve seen it there’s no real reason to view it again, except for the novelty value of proving to yourself that this weirdness actually exists.

		Bought the Jam DVD this week - and I can officially say that it's truly superb.
		Unfortunately, the Jaaaaam DVD [disc 2] got 'jammed' in the Xbox, so now it's so scratched that it won't play.

		It's a great moment for me, DS, and my mum (not necessarily in that order!).
