 Kakadu National Park
Jabiru is situated in the heart of Kakadu National Park, 250 km's east of Darwin.
Jabiru has most of the services of any modern town, with a supermarket, caravan park, hotel, bank, health clinic with resident doctors and nursing staff and a nine hole golf course.
With a population of about 1200, Jabiru was originally set up to service the uranium mines in the area and is a good place to base yourself if you plan on staying in Kakadu for any length of time.

This now is the gateway to the Litchfield National Park and a caravan park in the town makes a good base for a visit to Litchfield although there are quite good facilities for camping within the park itself.
Katherine itself with its famous Gorge, well appointed caravan parks and all the facilities expected in a modern town, is well worth a stay of a few days or more and the friendly staff at the Visitors Centre will give you plenty of good reasons to stay.
