Chick was born in the Boyle Heights section of Los Angeles, California, and experienced several health problems as a child.

I found this out on what appears to be the definitive Jack Chick fansite the source of knowledge of the elusive Jack Chick and his comic books which is also an museum somewhere in Tennessee.
Jack Chick's tracts were (and apparently are) always volatile, controversial.
