Ask the Archivist - Mr. Weatherbee
While PEP COMICS #25 (March, 1942) is famous as the first appearance of Archie's jalopy, it is already "dilapidated" and described by Archie's dad in the past tense ("It's costing too much," Mr.
Andrews says), suggesting comic characters have a life beyond the pages of their comic books.
Weatherbee in JACKPOT #5 cannot be disputed, however-- he appears on page 2 and is identified as "Mr.

Buster (comic) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Buster was a long-running British comic (28 May 1960 - 4 January 2000) which carried a mixture of humour and adventure strips, although the latter genre would become a rarer occurrence as the comic went on.
As occurred with other British comics such as The Dandy, many other comic books merged with Buster over the years and some of their characters appeared in the comic.
In addition, another comic called BVC (Big Value Comic) appeared for a short period in 1995 as a sister publication, followed by Buster Classics in 1996.

He was also one of the few comic book characters ever to star in his own pulp magazine — Black Hood Detective began recounting his adventures in non-comics form in 1941, and lasted no less than three issues (tho the title was changed to Hooded Detective with the second).
During a mid-1980s superhero revival, Archie Comics did a revised version, in which Kip Burland was carrying on a family tradition of fighting crime as The Black Hood (in addition to running a few adventures of the older model).
And in the early 1990s, DC Comics licensed the Archie superheroes for its "!mpact Comics" imprint, and published a third version for a dozen or so issues.

The jackpot on Nevada’s Megabucks slot machines reached a record of more than $35 million Friday and will continue climbing until one gambler gets lucky and strikes it rich.

The second jackpot didn’t come until more than a year after the first, when a machine at downtown Reno’s Club Cal Neva Hotel Casino hit for $6.8 million on Feb. 14, 1988.
