Jackie Jackson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sigmund Esco "Jackie" Jackson (born May 4, 1951 in Gary, Indiana) is an American singer and musician, a former member of The Jackson 5, and the oldest son in the Jackson family that includes pop stars Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson.
Jackson left a promising career in baseball to pursue his passion for music with his brothers.
Jackie released his solo debut in 1973 to capitalize on the Jackson 5 franchise the same way that younger brothers Jermaine and Michael had done.

Orignally the album would have been called 'Presenting the Jackson 5" but since Miss Ross was a big star at that time they put their name in later on and presented her as discoverer of the Jackson 5.
Jermaine was replaced by Randy, the youngest Jackson brother and unoffical 6th 'member' of the Jackson 5.
At present, all 6 Jackson brothers are working on a reunion album to celebrate their 25th anniversary in showbiz, which should be released sometime in 1999.

 The Jackson Five
Jackson tries to get scary on "Threatened" a la "Thriller." He tries to get freaky and over-amped on "2000 Watts" but the metaphor is written badly, and the music adds sound effects instead of intense ensemble playing.
Motown released three Jackson 5 albums in a two year time span (the debut was released in December, 1969), then put out a hits package and two more studio albums before 1972 was over.
Jackson has never moved at the fervid pace that many great rock/pop performers/players have moved when on an inspired roll.

Although technically credited to "The Jackson Five featuring Michael Jackson," Joyful Jukebox Music (1976) was actually issued after the quintet split from Motown, their home for five years and a total of 11 long-players.
The Jackson 5 closed out their celebrated Motown tenure with Moving Violation, a slight if intermittently engaging LP buoyed, as always, by the brothers' remarkable vocals.
Not even six months after the Jackson 5 -- Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, Michael, and Tito -- issued their debut long-player, Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5 (1969), the vocal quintet returned with ABC (1970), arguably the brothers' most solid effort of the early '70s.

Michael Jackson had recorded solo prior to the release of Off the Wall in 1979, but this was his breakthrough, the album that established him as an artist of astonishing talent and a bright star in his own right.
Michael Jackson's fourth and final new studio album for Motown came nearly two years after its predecessor, Music and Me. It was a more mature effort for the 16-year-old singer but lacked the contemporary dance style that had given Jackson and his brothers a career rebirth with "Dancing Machine" the year before.
The songs were undistinguished, Jackson sounded tentative and uninterested vocally, and the production and arrangements were routine at best, sometimes inferior.

After the Jackson 5 were recommended to Motown boss Berry Gordy by a Motown act - Bobby Taylor & The Vancouvers - they were signed to the label in 1969 and left Gary for the glitz of Hollywood to be pampered and polished as a coming major act.
During those first few years of success Motown had realised that Michael had the greatest fan appeal and the best possibility of a long career and he was groomed by the company for a solo career to run in tandem with the group.
By 1975 when the Jackson 5's contract with Motown had expired, disagreements about artistic freedom had soured the relationship and they signed to Epic under the name The Jacksons (because Motown owned the rights to the name Jackson 5) and Michael also signed as a solo artist.

5, it's a Polaroid of the summer of 2000, a summer that seemed to pale in comparison to the giddy summer of 1999, when Christina and Britney battled it out for supremacy, while LEN delivered the best summer single of the decade.
That was the year mainstream pop radio popped back to life after a dormant period, so 2000 was bound to not live up to its standards, and, as it rolled along uneventfully, it didn't seem as if it did.
5 proves that it was a pretty good year after all, containing several very good dance-pop and urban singles, balanced by a handful of great singles.
