The median income for a household in the township is $42,574, and the median income for a family is $46,136.

 Description of the Geology of Mercer County Pennsylvania
The northern drift covers the entire county, even on the very summit of Keel ridge in Hickory township 1250` A.T. Bowlders of large size are often found in the drift; granite, gneiss, greenstone from New York or Canada, mixed with limestone, sandstone, shale, pieces of coal, and an abundance of bluish-white clay.
The Mercer iron ore plates of carbonate of iron where they reach a thickness of 1 ½` or 2` have been mined along their outcrops, for the Oregon, Iron City, Clay, Sharpsville, and Mineral Ridge charcoal furnaces.
Under lie the Shenango shales and flagstone 45`; the Shenango sandstone (Sub-Olean flat pebble conglomerate of McKean county) with nodular iron ore and fish remains, 15`; and the Crawford shales, 90` of which are visible in the north-western corner of the county.

Mercer County's director of elections said it was a computer software glitch that caused touch-screen voting machines to malfunction in about a dozen precincts Tuesday.
Mercer County commissioners, doubling as the county election board, vowed to investigate, noting the probe was started immediately to find out what happened, why it happened and how it can be prevented from happening again.
The county had about 2,000 paper ballots prepared in advance for emergencies, but the problem was so great that "a couple thousand more" were printed and hauled out to the precincts as they ran low or ran out of ballots.

The road is mostly a hill between Raymilton in the Sandy Creek Valley and the Slatertown Spur Road at PA-965 on the plateau.
The section through Mineral Township is a nice drive, especially starting around this point near the Slatertown Spur Road where it begins winding into the Sandy Creek Valley.
