Jadi Rana - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jadi Rana or Jadav Rana is a figure from the Qissa-i Sanjan, an epic poem completed in 1599, which is an account of the flight of some of the Zoroastrians who were subject to religious persecution following the fall of the Persian Empire, and of their early years in India, where they found refuge.
Jadi Rana, who the Qissa simply states as having been a Hindu king in what in now the Indian state of Gujarat, is thought to have been a ruler belonging to one of the Rajput clans which ruled that region in that era.
One interesting, perhaps apocryphal Parsi legend relates the course of the initial meeting between Jadi Rana and the newly landed emigrants: When the Zoroastrians requested asylum, Jadi Rana motioned to a vessel of milk filled to the very brim to signify that his kingdom was already full and could not accept refugees.

It is said that he summoned the leader of the refugees, and made the point that there was no place in his kingdom for any refugees by offering the leader a saucer full to the brim with Milk.
He re-offered the milk to Jadav Rana, who drank of its new-found sweetness, and understood this to mean, correctly, that as the sugar got mingled nicely in the milk, without spilling the latter, AND also sweetened the milk, so also the refugees would mingle with the local populace and enrich their life for ever.
In the centuries to come, they indeed have enriched Indian culture, economy, business, education, philanthropy, and so much else, that they proved the early pioneer right.

However as there were no cases of children of Parsi mothers by non Parsi fathers the question of their navjots taking place did not arise.
This is clear from the evidence of high priest Dastoorji Dorab P Sanjana who states “There was no conversion because at first there were difficulties in the way of the emigrants who found a safe refuge in India, as Jadav Rana gave them refuge under certain conditions.
A very clear exposition of this issue is given byDr K R Cama one of the most learned and honourable scholars the community has ever known, in a letter to Seth Rustomji Dosabhai Sethna the then vice chairman of the Anjuman Atash Behram, as follows.
