		Anyway, it was thought that for balance jagang needed to be born, and then Richard was born to counter him.
		I don't remember all that was postulated at, but someone's theory was that w/o Jagang being born and becoming what he did, perhaps Richard wouldn't have been born.
		I believe that jagang was born to be a balance to Richard, and to somehow make things play out the way they are supposed to in the Final Battle.

		Obligingly, Goodkind introduces us to the new villain Jagang in the first chapter along with some of the Sisters of the Dark.
		Jagang is a rather interesting, even terrifying, villain and is a decent antagonist for Richard eventually forcing the Seeker into some very Seeker-like decisions in the book.
		We’re introduced to two new characters, Lunetta and Tobias, who carry on this plotline to conclusions that are as foreshadowed and trite as anything we’ve read in the fantasy genre.
