Jagdpanther was based on standard Panther chassis with superstructure being an extension of the upper front hull (80mm thick armor) and side (50mm thick armor) plates.
Jagdpanther was armed with excellent, long barrelled 88mm Pak 43/3 L/71 gun (similar to that used on Tiger II) and single 7.92mm MG34 or MG42 machine gun mounted in the same ball mount as Panther Ausf A.
Jagdpanthers were equipped with two types of 88mm gun; early type gun was one piece (monobloc) while the later type gun consisted of two parts.

 SdKfz - Made in Great Britain - The Collection - 173 Jagdpanther
This Jagdpanther was one of two acquired in 2000.
Both Jagdpanthers were rescued from gunnery ranges: one from the Hohne range in Germany and this particular one from Pirbright, Surrey in the U.K. It was extracted and transported back to Germany by Budge and Co for a German buyer in exchange for an artillery piece.
This Jagdpanther was in an extremely sorry state when it finally arrived back in the UK after nearly three decades abroad.

The largest collection of Jagdpanthers was assembled for the Ardennes campaign in 1944.
From January 1945 the Jagdpanther was issued to the detachments of seven different Panzer divisions, to the Fuhrer Grenadier Division and to a Panzer brigade.
Jagdtigers especially, were painted this way and there are some illustrations of Jagdpanthers that suggest the same was true of these vehicles.

The former corps reserve with 10 Jagdpanther was designated Kampfgruppe Wittmoser and moved into the St. Martin area with orders to seal off a breakthrough by enemy tanks south from the direction of St. Jean.

These parts are the barrel, the gun mantlet, upper hull and lower hull, two track and wheel assemblies, two mufflers, three tool canisters, and two track covers.
Once the base coat was dry, I used a brown wash on the forward part of the tank and a fl wash around the mufflers and filters.
The rest of the Jagdpanther was dry brushed with Radome tan to bring out the details.

The photo showed a mid production Jagdpanther of 130 Panzer Lehr, burnt and broken in a ditch, being inspected by a GI.
The style of gun collet, the apparent single piece barrel, the large areas of dark green interspersed with Dark Yellow and Red Brown, and the added foliage as camouflage all added to the appeal of this vehicle.
Chris made a number of modifications to create the mid production vehicle in the photo, depicted just before the catastrophic events that resulted in the destruction of this big tank hunter.

 Tamiya 1:48 German Jagdpanther
Following the earlier release of the Panther G (kit #32520) Tamiya have logically followed this with a kit of the Jagdpanther Late Version which uses a number of features from the previous kit, both in the real vehicle and the kit.
Maybe to create some collector interest or the colour box was not available for the scheduled release date, but the kit inside is the same for both.
The kit can only be built as a late model Jagdpanther Ausf G2 with large flame dampener exhausts due to only the late design engine intake grills being provided although Tamiya give you the earlier three and one pipe exhausts as an option these shouldn’t be used due to the grill type.
