According to Cavada, the parish of Jagna was established in1631.
Unfortunately, the church at Jagna (probably the one built by Sanchez) was destroyed by an 1808 fire which also damaged the parish records.
Jagna was a convenient take off point for Camiguin Island, in colonial times the gateway to northern Mindanao.

His secondary days were spent at the Central Visayan Institute of Jagna, and his elementary at the Colegio de la Medalla Milagrosa (Jagna) and Bohol Chinese School (Tagbilaran).

JAGNA, Bohol — The continuing land movement in Barangay Mayana, this town has already caused at least R15 million in damage to properties and farms, not to mention the suffering of the 127 families affected by the phenomenon.
Jagna Mayor Exuperio Lloren is seeking the support of civic groups for the the victims, mostly farming families whose farms have been destroyed by the soil movement.
He said he would no longer allow residents to build houses in the area because of the risk of another cave-in or landslide, adding the highway was not affected by the deep cracks, but the houses beside the road were in grave danger of falling into the widening cracks.

OVER 4,000 women in Jagna, Bohol now stand to benefit from the P12 million funding recently granted by the Peace and Equity Foundation Inc. to the Jagna branch of the Taytay sa Kauswagan Inc.
The fund is meant to engage the Jagna women in various microenterprises in the hope of enhancing their economic status.
During the ceremonial turnover of the fund last Sept. 18 in Jagna, Bohol, Enrico Garde, Peace and Equity Foundation Inc. executive director, said the foundation's vision is to see families able to remove or reduce poverty and become economically productive members of society.

CEBU CITY-At least 19 more families were evacuated in Barangay Mayana in Jagna, Bohol as deep soil cracks reached the houses beside the national highway going to the nearby town of Sierra Bullones.
Jagna Mayor Exutero Lloren yesterday said town officials were alarmed by the continued soil movement and felt helpless.
He said the national highway was not yet affected by the deep cracks, but the houses beside the road were in grave danger of falling into the widening cracks.

As I read the "Bohol Program Framework on Poverty Reduction" prepared by the Provincial Government of Bohol, this writer (Jes B. Tirol) noticed one major factor that is missing or not properly considered.
He was the Parish Priest of Jagna, Bohol rom 1821 to 1855.
The community was progressive even if it was located "in the middle of nowhere." If you will care to study successful communities and organizations in Bohol you will not fail to notice that there is always a "revered" leader of the group.
