 CanadianDriver: - 2000 Jaguar S-Type
Jaguar expects 50% to 60% of S-Types to be leased, and at the end of a two year lease, the residual value is expected to be 64%, a comparatively high figure for Jaguar due in part to their improved reliability record.
As you'd expect in a Jaguar, the S-Type has a luxuriously-finished interior, with plenty of lacquered wood trim on the dash, doors, centre console, steering wheel rim, and gearshift lever, and tasteful touches of chrome around the gear lever and on the door handles.
The 1963 S-Type was a handsome, upscale, five passenger sedan derived from the popular 1959 Mark 2 sedan.

Jaguar XK & S-Type Luxury Car Review -- ROAD & TRAVEL Magazine
Jaguar said it reworked the S-Type sheet metal for a cleaner and more "contemporary" look, but I had to park the car next to an earlier model to see the minor difference.
In 1963, Jaguar's XKE featured real aluminum trim inside.
Jaguar officials refer to it as "sporty but luxurious." The test car with the "comfort" suspension seemed to roll easily over road bumps and kept them from riders while still conveying something of the road texture to the driver.

 CanadianDriver: Motoring Memories - Jaguar E-Type, 1961-1975
The E-Type Jaguar's lines were so pure and ageless that the New York Museum of Modern Art added a 1963 model to its permanent collection, only the third car to be so honoured; the others were a 1946 Cisitalia Gran Sport and a 1990 Ferrari Formula One Grand Prix car.
Jaguar used both old and new components for the E. The 3.8 litre, double overhead cam, 265 horsepower six and four-speed manual transmission came from the XK150S.
It was the first Jaguar not styled by William Lyons the father of the Jaguar.

Jaguar Magazine - For Lovers Of Jaguar Cars
The first S-Types built by Jaguar were 3.8s (August 1963), and while the 3.4 was announced also in September of that year, the first production cars were not built in either RHD or LHD until February 1964.
Jaguars S-Type came standard with power steering, now a mandatory fitting on most mass produced cars, but a very welcome addition to Jaguars compact range then as the ‘Mk1’ and Mk2 are notoriously heavy to steer at slower speeds.
Jaguar would be forced to follow suit within a few years and the 420 Jaguar remained in production only for two of those.

Jaguar S-TYPE - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In marketing terms, the 1963 S-Type was essentially a larger, plusher version of the company's popular Mark II but sported innovations such as independent rear suspension, which it shared with the larger Mark X and the E-type sports car.
Due to various reasons—the Mark II being a strong seller even in 1963, and the Mark X being a poor seller—Jaguar decided to have all three models in its range concurrently.
A larger 4.2 litre engine was introduced in a related model called the Jaguar 420, which sported a grille that was reminiscent of the full-size Jaguar Mark X.
