Sigmund Jahn was born February 13, 1937 in the town of Rautenkrantz.
In 1966, Sigmund Jahn was sent to the Soviet Union to study at the Gagarin Air Force Academy and on graduating continued his career as flyer-inspector on the staff of the Airforce of the GDR.
Lt-Col Sigmund Jahn has been a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany since 1956.

sorry but it is not the fully truth, that Sigmund Jaehn is the one and only Kosmonaut of G.D.R. He was the only "G.D.Rian", who ever flew in space-that´s fully true.
