A remote-controlled bomb damaged a vehicle carrying government census workers in Jaji Maydan district of Khost Province on 20th May. Several of the passengers were injured, two of them seriously.

Two Taliban fighters were killed the same day after ambushing a government convoy in Waza Khaw district of Paktika province to the east of Zabul, an official said, adding that a civilian driver and local policeman also died in the gunbattle, reports Reuters.
The statement alleges that five U.S. servicemen were killed in fighting in the district and that three Afghan militiamen allied to U.S. forces were captured.

An explosion set a UN vehicle on fire in eastern Afghanistan, injuring its Afghan driver, the United Nations said on Sunday, in what appeared to be the second attack on election workers in less than a week.
The vehicle was hit Saturday morning near Grabawa, a village in Khogyani district of Nangarhar province about 100 km south of the capital, Kabul, UN spokesman Manoel de Almeida e Silva said.
Four Afghan UN election staff travelling in the vehicle were unhurt, and the driver was released from a hospital later last night after treatment for minor injuries, Almeida e Silva said.

The victims were traveling through the Jaji Maydan district of Khost province, about 80 miles south of the capital, Kabul, district police chief Haji Bakhti told The Associated Press.
Bakhti said the SUV was carrying election workers and that six people were hurt.
