Beyond The Arc: Memphis Grizzlies Blog :: April :: 2006
Tsakalidis by contrast is a better mid-range shooter (a more respectable 38-percent), but his combination of better size and more astute shot selection leads to fewer perimeter attempts (24 percent of Tsakalidis’ field-goal attempts have been jumpers).
This means Tsakalidis is getting more of his shot attempts (76 percent to Wright’s 54 percent) in the paint, where he converts at a better rate (67 percent to 63 percent) despite being slower off the floor (the reason Tsakalidis converts only 72-percent of his dunk attempts, with 22-percent getting blocked).
Even more importantly, Tsakalidis is the Grizzlies most effective player in one of their weakest areas — rebounding, where his rebound-rate this season is easily tops on the team.
