It is located high up in Allison Gulch, a tributary of the East Fork of the San Gabriel river (the junction is a short distance upstream of a notable feature of the East Fork canyon called ``Swan Rock'').
The preferred route which is described first proceeds up Allison Gulch from the East Fork; it involves a substantial navigational challenge in which an altimeter is almost essential for success.
There is no trail up Allison Gulch, but is is a heavily wooded glen with little brush and therefore fairly easy going as you climb up the rocky streambed.

The 1783 will of James Burke, Sr., was probated in Surry County and mentioned his daughter Mary Morphew and granddaughter Sarah Coleman, (from Surry County Will Abstracts 1771-1827, by Linn).    The will fails to name the husband of  Mary Burke's Morphew who was probably already dead.
In 18 May 1789, Mary Murfee was granted fifty acres by the State of North Carolina on the south bank of the South Fork of New River.  The land lay in Wilkes County adjacent the property lines of her son-in-law Young Coleman and Jean Tilley and now lies with Ashe or Watauga County (est.
Joseph’s Creek is the same creek that James Burke settled in 1761.  It appears that Joseph’s Creek is the North Branch of Forbush Creek, and extends all the way to the Yadkin River.

Thirty-four years after making his professional debut at Watkins Glen (sharing the eighth-place Porsche 911S with Peter Gregg), Haywood returned this year to the Six Hours of The Glen, still seeking his first overall victory to go with numerous race wins including his four class wins in the Six-Hour - all driving a Brumos Porsche.
While seeing his car wrecked and his overall victory lost at The Glen were far from his goals for the day, Haywood maintained his classic stoic expression.
