 Richard Burbage
At the time of his father's death, a lawsuit was in progress against the lessor from whom James Burbage held the land on which The Theatre stood.
This suit was continued by Richard and his brother Cuthbert, and in 1599 they pulled down the Shoreditch house and used the materials to erect the Globe theatre, famous for its connection with Shakespeare.
In this venture Richard Burbage had Shakespeare and others as his partners, and it was in one or the other of these houses that he gained his greatest triumphs, taking the lead part in almost every new play.

BURBAGE, RICHARD [Burbage, Richard], 1567?-1619, first great English actor.
Burbage's father, James Burbage, had built the first permanent theater in London in 1576, called the Theatre.
In 1598 the building was removed to Bankside and set up as the Globe Theatre by Richard's brother, Cuthbert, on the death of their father.

It is likely that he spent at least part of that time in a travelling company of players, on tour in England and perhaps abroad.
At some point, he teamed up with the Burbage family: James, who had been an actor but is best known for building the first purpose-built professional theatres in London, and his actor sons Cuthbert and Richard.
A company including both Richard and James Burbage and Edward Alleyn, the greatest actor of the day, had a brief existence in 1594 before the Burbages later split off from it to become – again – the Lord Chamberlain's Men.
