Caviezel's surname is of Romansh Swiss origin; his father is half Slovak (maternal) and half Romansh Swiss (paternal),[1] and his mother is an Irish American.
Caviezel is a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity at the University of Washington and is also a Minnesota Vikings fan.
Caviezel was 33 years old at the time during the filming of The Passion of The Christ, the same age Jesus was when he died.
