Here is a follow-up of what I have learned about Caroline Westlake and James Gardiner, my great-great grandparents, who were married in Somerton, Somerset County, England, in 1843.
It would seem to me that this Edith Gardiner has to be the daughter of James and Caroline Westlake Gardiner, and thus establishing a definitive link between these two families.
Jane Munday was a witness at the marriage of James and Caroline Gardiner, and I believe this forms another link in a chain of circumstantial evidence for this family.

Within five years, William Westlake Gardiner and Emma Smith Gardiner would have three children, and would, in 1881, immigrate to America, living first in Moberly, MO, and then in Mount Vernon, IL, and finally, Champaign, IL, where he died.
