James Taylor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
James Vernon Taylor (born March 12, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in Boston, Massachusetts.
His second album, Sweet Baby James, was a massive success, buoyed by the single "Fire and Rain", a song about his experience in an asylum and the suicide of a friend.
Simon was unhappy with Taylor's extended absences due to touring; he rejected an ultimatum from her that he spend more time with his children and they eventually divorced in 1983.

James Agee and Walker Evans' Let Us Now Praise Famous Men is, along with the works of John Steinbeck and, of course, Woody Guthrie, one of the most honest and heartfelt portraits of the great depression we have.
Guthrie couldn't really sing, and his records were low-fi even for their day.
Recorded in 1994 in New Mexico, the players are all area musicians who do a fine job of capturing the songs' intentions and spirit and the 21 selections comprise a fine primer to Guthrie's work.

Both of them had recently worked with Pink Floyd and James thought that a couple of our songs would benefit from Michael's string arrangements.
I was in disbelief when James told me rather nonchalantly, that he had booked studio time at Abby Road (the famous studio where the Beatles had recorded so much of their work) to record Kamen's orchestra for the accompanying music to Roads to Madness and No Sanctuary.
