The residence that Whedbee built and Iredell inhabited presents a tall two-story block to East Church Street.

IREDELL, James, justice of the supreme court, born in Lewes, England, 5 October, 1750; died in Edenton, North Carolina, 20 October, 1799.
He was the leader of the Federalists of North Carolina, and in the convention held at Hillsborough in 1788 he argued without success in favor of the adoption of the Federal constitution.
In that of Wilson against Daniels he also dissented, and his view relative to jurisdiction on a writ of error was adopted in subsequent rulings of the court.

I think the passage I focused on conveyed Iredell's belief that although the boycott, if utilized across the thirteen colonies, could be dangerous to England, women as a gender did not have the ability to organize and maintain a boycott effort of that magnitude.
For example: In the letter to his brother James Iredell, Arthur Iredell states he does not believe that many American towns have women as committed to patriotism as were the women of Edenton; as a result the boycott could not ruin England.

James Iredell Waddell was born in Pittsboro, North Carolina, on 13 July 1824 and joined the Navy as a Midshipman in September 1841.
Lieutenant Waddell resigned his commission while returning home in the latter ship late in 1861 and was dismissed from the U.S. Navy in January 1862.
James Iredell Waddell died at Annapolis, Maryland, on 15 March 1886.
