James Irwin, a well known stage driver, for some time in the employ of Hill Beachey, both here and in Idaho, was shot and mortally wounded at the Warm Springs on the Elko road, forty miles north of this city, on Sunday evening last, by James Gilson, proprietor of Gibson's Station.
Irwin was not killed instantly, but being placed on the stage was sent down to the Telegraph Station, where it is reported he died a few hours later.
Irwin was put on the stage and brought to the next station, where he lingered until Monday morning, at 3 o'clock, when he expired.

They deployed an ALSEP package which involved the emplacement and activation of surface experiments, and their lunar surface activities were televised in color using a TV camera which was operated remotely by ground controllers stationed in the mission control center located at Houston, Texas.

I realize that Irwin became a minister following his astronaut career, so it was an essential part of the story, but he spent too much time and detail discussing his religious feelings and I personally think that this detracted from the story.
Irwin himself says in the book that when he landed on the moon it was as a representative of all people on the earth.
It appears that Irwin had a strong faith, and his experience on the moon deepened it, which I don't find to be scandalous or "wrong" in any way.
