Willem van de Velde, the Younger (1633 – April 6, 1707), was a Dutch painter.
A son of Willem van de Velde, the elder, also a painter of sea-pieces, Willem van de Velde, the younger, was born at Amsterdam.
He was instructed by his father, and afterwards by Simon de Vlieger, a marine painter of repute at the time, and had achieved great celebrity by his art before he came to London.

Van De Velde was Jovin's senior thesis advisor and saw her the night of her death a mile from campus on Dec. 4, 1998.
Although news that Van De Velde is a suspect in the case provoked the decision to cancel Van De Velde's classes, Yale officials said they don't wish to imply that Van De Velde was involved in the homicide.
Van De Velde said publicly he was interviewed twice by police and that he did not kill Jovin.
