This Mosqe is significant becase of the wide spread belief that the hidden Imam, the 12th Imam, Zaman will reappear from Jamkaran well at the appointed time.
The Jamkaran Mosque is the Mosque at that well.

Tanpa pikir panjang aku memasuki rumah sayyid, di sana aku dihormati olehnya dengan penghormatan yang luar biasa, dia berkata; wahai Hasan bin Mitslih dalam tidurku aku mendengar suara seseorang yang berkata: ada seseorang dari Jamkaran akan datang menemuimu, percayailah apa yang dia katakan, ucapannya adalah ucapanku juga dan jangan sekali-sekali engkau menolak ucapannya.

The Holy Jamkaran Mosque is six kilometres away from Qum to the east.
On the eve of Tuesday, 17th of Ramdan, 373 A.H. while I was asleep at home, a group of people came to my house awakened me and said, "Get up and come to the presence of your Imam al-Mahdi(May God hasten his reappearance), for he wants you".
Noting well, I saw a bed, furnished with a nice carpet, on which a young man - emingly in his thirties was leaning back on a pillow, and an old man was sitting near him.

The fact that the area was the birthplace of Zoroaster, or even the burial site of one or two of the disciples of Zoroaster who traveled to Bethlehem for Christ’s birth indicate that the city has been one of the largest religious and scientific centers of the ancient times.
The archeological excavations in Qoli Darvish area, in Jamkaran, Qom led to the discovery of foundries used for melting iron and some other architectural features of the Iron Age.
According to him, the stratigraphy of the area revealed 14 stages of settlement in the Iron Age, and the documents found signify dwellings in the Historical and Islamic Ages.
