Jan Berglin is a Swedish cartoonist who made his debut in the Uppsala student newspaper Ergo in 1985.
When he was given the Alf Henriksson Prize in 2004, the motivation was his rendering of the "existence of the everyday human between ideals and matter".
In later years he has recognized the input of his wife Maria, an artist and literary critic, into the strips by signing them "Berglins".

Requests from two state departments were on the agenda, Wed., Jan. 12, as members of the Capital Investment Committee continued their examination of the bonding bill, S.F. The measure is sponsored by Committee Chair Keith Langseth (DFL-Glyndon).
During the presentation, Berglin stressed that existing law requires current state employees of RTCs to be retained as staff for new Community Services operations.

Berglin said under the Wisconsin pilot, the original goal was for people to save $500 over two years, but people who were able to save about $200 of their own money were considered successful.
Although the legislation is still tentative, Berglin said there could be as many as eight pilot programs established around the state by next year.
Berglin said she expects the Legislature to consider a bill that would appropriate state funds for the program during the next session, which will begin in January.

The Jan. 28 hearing at the Anoka County Government Center gave officials throughout Anoka County and the state an opportunity to voice their concerns about the state of health care in Minnesota.
The proposal calls for the state to cover the $60 million cost for MinnesotaCare coverage with revenue from a state healthcare access fund for the first year.
Removing a cap placed on MinnesotaCare and restoring coverage to families without children, implemented in the last legislative session, are also proposed in the Senate DFL plan.

 More Medicaid Cuts Loom for Chiropractic
On Jan. 1, 2003, a series of sweeping cuts to Massachusetts' version of Medicaid, MassHealth, went into effect, including the complete elimination of chiropractic services, and on Jan. 10, California Gov. Gray Davis introduced a budget plan that removed chiropractic benefits from Medi-Cal.
As we go to press, governors in at least six other states have presented budgets that would limit the number of visits to a chiropractor; increase copayments for Medicare patients; reduce reimbursements to providers; or eliminate chiropractic benefits completely.
According to Sen. Linda Berglin, chair of the Senate's funding division on health and human services, 15 states are considering eliminating coverage for chiropractic, podiatry, or both.
