Jan Egil Storholt, born in Løkken southwest of Trondheim, was one of the Norwegian S'es in the end of the 1970s.
In 1977 the conditions were excellent during the country match between Soviet Union and Norway at Medeo in Alma Ata, and Storholt used the opportunity to set two World Records (1500 m and allround combination) and 5 Personal Bests and climb to the top of the Adelskalender.
Storholt was flag bearer for the Norwegian Olympic team in 1980.

Others to Watch: With Jansen and Norway's Johann Olav Koss retired, the strongest competitors in the men's long-track competition appear to be three Japanese sprinters — Hioyasu Shimizu in the 500 and Yasunori Miyabe and Manabu Horii in the 1,000.
Also contending in the sprints will be Jan Bos of the Netherlands, while returning Olympians Rintje Titsma and Ids Postma will contend at the longer distances.
The biggest names in women's long-track skating used to be Blair and China's Ye Qiaobo.
