Jan Frederik Gronovius (also seen as Johann Frederik and Johannes Fredericus) (1690-1762) was a (The West Germanic language of the Netherlands) Dutch (A biologist specializing in the study of plants) botanist notable as a patron of (Swedish botanist who proposed the modern system of biological nomenclature (1707-1778)) Linnaeus.
In 1737 Gronovius described the (Widely cultivated South African perennial having flower heads with orange to flame-colored rays) Transvaal daisy, naming it Gerbera.
